The number inside the recycling triangle isn’t a promise it’ll get recycled — it’s just a resin code. #1 (PET) and #2 (HDPE) are the most widely accepted; #3, #6, and #7 are rarely recyclable curbside, even if the symbol is printed on them.
When in doubt, check your local program’s accepted-materials list instead of relying on the symbol alone.
